About Me

Hi! My name is Tavleen Tarrant (she/her). I'm a 27-year-old Associate Social Newsgathering Reporter at NBC News in New York City. Before this, I was a news assistant at CNN. I'm also a documentarian who has won a Robert F Kennedy Human Rights Award for Best College Journalism for my film , "Allies Welcome." 

I enjoy writing about gender, the global economy, migration, labor rights, politics, and everything in between. I am passionate about feminism, politics, social justice and activism, international political economy, and documentaries.

I have lived in eight cities in six countries ( Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, France, Australia, and the United States). Currently, I live in New York City. 

I hold a Masters of Sciences in Journalism from Columbia University with a specialization in Documentary Filmmaking, a Bachelor of Arts and Social Sciences in International Relations with first-class honors from the University of New South Wales, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and International Relations from the University of Queensland. 

In my free time, you can catch me hanging out with my cats, Tubby the Tabby and Molly.
